Groundbreaking for Lauderhill Performing Arts Center
On September 23 at 10 am, the City of Lauderhill is planning to hold its groundbreaking ceremony for the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center and Library. The event will be at the corner of Sunrise Blvd. and 441, adjacent to the Central Regional Park.
The facility will be the first LEED Gold Performing Arts Center in the southeast US, and is using $440,000 received by the city from the Federal Energy Block Grant.
Other funds of $5.7 million are from the voter approved 2005 GO Lauderhill Bond and $5.7 million from a Broward County grant. Additionally, the Library funding is from the countywide voter approved $169 Library Bond passed several years ago.
The architect for this project is Westlake Reed from Washington, DC, and the general contractor is D. Stephenson Construction, a local construction company. Expected completion is December 2011.
More information about the event will be forthcoming.
