Winners Announced For The Annual Parkway Middle School Of The Arts Juried Art Contest


Lauderhill, FL….  The Art, Culture and Tourism Board of the City of Lauderhill has announced the winners of the Annual Parkway Middle School of the Arts Juried Art Contest. The winners were chosen at the school’s “Musical Kaleidoscope” Program on Thursday, May 30, 2013.

In the Painting category, third place went to Ginelle Swan, second place, Brandon King and first place, to Jacquelyn Burgess.

In the Drawing category, Sukeisha Brown won third, Riley Casson received second place, and Taylor Hamilton won first place.

In the Sculpture category, third place went to Roberto Lama, second place Kayla Wauchope, and first place Mariam Garcia.

In the Mixed Media category, third place went to Alicia Reynalds, second place to Cayla Oliphant, and first place to Joanna Wheeler.

In the Paper Collage category, the third place winner was Aajah Williams, second place Emily Paul, and first place Taylor Graham.

In the Paper Weaving category, third place winner was Tykeria Castro, second place Kayla Wauchope, and first place Jasenia Figueroa.

“Best in Show” was awarded to Renard Walter’s for his “Cube” sculpture.

Parkway Middle School of the Arts is Broward County’s only arts magnet middle school. Students received cash prizes of $100 for first place and Best in Show categories, $75 for second place, and $50 for third place.  The judging panel included Corrine Wakeland and Carol Ann McFarland, Lauderhill Arts Center artists in residence, and Adrianne Chadwick, Museum Educator at the Art Museum of Fort Lauderdale.


The City of Lauderhill’s Arts, Culture and Tourism (ACT) Board is a volunteer advisory body that works with the Lauderhill City Commission on art and cultural programs that include Lauderhill the Arts Center & Gallery and the Mayor’s Jazz Picnic in the Park series.
