On February 24, the City Commission held its regular meeting, and the following are notes of interests (all items passed unanimously unless otherwise indicated):
ORDINANCES & PUBLIC HEARINGS - SECOND READING
ORDINANCE NO. 14O-02-105: AMENDING THE LAND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS, CREATING SUBSECTION 3.1.15., RESIDENTIAL MULTIPLE-FAMILY AT 40 DWELLING UNITS PER GROSS ACRE (RM-40) ZONING DISTRICT. This would apply to the old McArthur Dairy site. At second reading, an amendment offered by Mayor Kaplan were passed to now require a special exception requirement to utilize this new zoning. Because of this amendment, a third reading of the Ordinance is required. Also, the Commission would review and approve the site plan submitted in this particular case.
ORDINANCE NO. 14O-02-108: CREATING SECTION 12-185, SALE OR DISTRIBUTION OF NICOTINE VAPORIZERS OR LIQUID NICOTINE TO PROHIBIT THE SALE OR DISTRIBUTION TO MINORS AND TO PROHIBIT THE SALE IN VENDING MACHINES; (REQUESTED BY VICE MAYOR M. MARGARET BATES.

RESOLUTION NO. 14R-02-45: OPPOSING OUTDOOR FIREARM RANGES IN RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOODS; URGING THE FLORIDA LEGISLATURE TO AMEND FLORIDA STATUTE, SECTION 790.15 TO AT LEAST IMPOSE REASONABLE RESTRICTIONS AND LIMITATIONS ON OUTDOOR FIREARM RANGES IN RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOODS AND ON THE DISCHARGES OF FIREARMS IN RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOODS, SUCH AS DISTANCE SEPARATION REQUIREMENTS, ETC,; (REQUESTED BY COMMISSIONER HAYWARD J. BENSON, JR.) .
