The City of
Lauderhill’s Finance
Department has been awarded the Government Finance Officers Association’s
(GFOA) “Distinguished Budget Presentation Award” for the
Fiscal Year Budget of 2014.
The GFOA’s
Distinguished Budget Presentation Award is the only national awards program in
governmental budgeting. The Association is a professional association that
serves 18,000 finance government professionals in North America.
The GFOA explains that
in order to receive this prestigious award the municipality had to, “… satisfy
nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation…. [in] how
well the budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations
guide, and a communications device.”
“The City of Lauderhill is no stranger to be honored by the
GFOA. Most recently, we have received the Distinguished Budget Presentation
Award for our budget in the fiscal years 2010, 2011, 2013 and now 2014! We
should all be proud of the fantastic work our Finance Department is doing. This
is the highest honor a government can receive for its budget preparation and
presentation and gives confidence to our residents that the City is properly
handling taxpayer dollars,” explains Mayor
Richard J. Kaplan.
The City of Lauderhill
Mayor and Commissioners will publicly thank the Finance Department under the
auspices of the Assistant City Manager and Finance Director Kennie Hobbs, Jr. at
the Commission Meeting on Monday, June 30, 2014. (5581 W. Oakland Park Blvd.,
Lauderhill, FL 33313)
