Free 10,000 CFL Bulbs to Lauderhill Residents

Through the Federal Energy Block Grant to Lauderhill, we are now proceeding with the 1st Phase of the Grant. We have purchased and will be distributing 10,000 FREE CFL BULBS to Lauderhill Residents. These bulbs collectively will save us over $145,000 in electrical costs/year and over 450,000 kilowatts/year. Each 13 watt bulb is equivalent to a regular 60 watt incandescent bulb, using 1/5 the energy and lasting 5-7 years.

To obtain your free bulb, go to City Hall, City of Lauderhill Recreation Centers, or Bowery Lighting located in Lauderhill at 4729 N. University Drive. We may also be attending Community Meetings to distribute them as well. One sleeve per household. First come, first serve until fully distributed.

The use of these free bulbs is one of the top 10 ways to save electricity in your home. To see the other 9 ways, go to:

To dispose of these bulbs, when they eventually burn out, Home Depot does have a depository. Because they contain Mercury, they do not go out in the normal garbage or recycling bins.
