BCPS to Continue Sharing Best Practices Across Schools

Today, the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) released the 2012-13 Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test 2.0 (FCAT 2.0) Reading, Mathematics, and Science results today. Summary results indicate that:

The percent of students meeting or exceeding grade level proficiency (Achievement Level 3 or above) in Reading is:

•     59% in Grade 4  •     59% in Grade 8
•     60% in Grade 5  •     53% in Grade 9
•     60% in Grade 6  •     52% in Grade 10
•     58% in Grade 7  

The percent of students meeting or exceeding grade level (Achievement Level 3 or above) in Mathematics is:

•     63% in Grade 4  •     53% in Grade 7
•     57% in Grade 5  •     48% in Grade 8
•     55% in Grade 6  

The percent of students meeting or exceeding grade level (Achievement Level 3 or above) in Science is:

•     49% in Grade 5  •     46% in Grade 8

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) students’ scores remained stable in reading across all grade levels, in mathematics for grades 4 and 6, and in science for grades 5 and 8.

Seventeen traditional elementary and middle schools made statistically significant increases (indicating a positive trend in scores) in these critical objectives.  Those serving Lauderhill are:
