ORDINANCES & PUBLIC HEARINGS - FIRST READING:

ORDINANCE NO. 14O-02-105:   AMENDING THE LAND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS, ARTICLE III., ZONING DISTRICTS, PART 3.0., BASE OR UNDERLYING ZONING DISTRICTS, SECTION 12R-0753 3.1., RESIDENTIAL ZONING DISTRICTS; CREATING SUBSECTION 3.1.15., RESIDENTIAL MULTIPLE-FAMILY AT 40 DWELLING UNITS PER GROSS ACRE (RM-40) ZONING DISTRICT; CREATING PARAGRAPH 3.1.15.A., PURPOSE AND INTENT; CREATING PARAGRAPH 3.1.15.B., PERMITTED PRINCIPAL USES AND STRUCTURES; CREATING PARAGRAPH 3.1.15.C., ACCESSORY USES AND STRUCTURES; CREATING PARAGRAPH 3.1.15.D., SPECIAL EXCEPTION USES AND STRUCTURES; CREATING PARAGRAPH 3.1.15.E., REVIEW AND APPROVAL PROCESS; CREATING PARAGRAPH 3.1.15.F., DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS; CREATING PARAGRAPH 3.1.15.G., SUPPLEMENTAL DISTRICT REGULATIONS; CREATING PARAGRAPH 3.1.15.H., SPECIAL REGULATIONS; AMENDING SCHEDULE B., ALLOWABLE USES, SECTION 1., USES ALLOWED IN RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTS, BY ADDING THE PERMITTED, ACCESSORY, AND SPECIAL EXCEPTION USES AND STRUCTURES ALLOWED HEREIN IN ORDER TO ENSURE INTERNAL CONSISTENCY; AMENDING SCHEDULE P., DESIGN STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES, SECTION 2., GENERAL DESIGN STANDARDS, TO ADD ANY DEVELOPMENT AND IMPROVEMENTS WITHIN THE RM-40 ZONING DISTRICT; PROVIDING FOR FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS.   Passed 3 to 2.  Mayor Kaplan, Commissioners Benson and Berger voting yes; Vice Mayor Bates and Commissioner Thurston voting no.  This would allow the construction of new market based apartment housing in two places on State Road 7.

ORDINANCE NO. 14O-02-108:  CREATING SECTION 12-185, SALE OR DISTRIBUTION OF NICOTINE VAPORIZERS OR LIQUID NICOTINE TO PROHIBIT THE SALE OR DISTRIBUTION TO MINORS AND TO PROHIBIT THE SALE IN VENDING MACHINES; PROVIDING DEFINITIONS, ENFORCEMENT, AND PENALTIES  (REQUESTED BY VICE MAYOR M. MARGARET BATES)

ORDINANCES & PUBLIC HEARINGS - SECOND READING:

ORDINANCE NO. 14O-01-102:  AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES CHAPTER 10, GARBAGE AND TRASH, ARTICLE I, IN GENERAL, SECTION 10-15, UNSANITARY AND/OR UNSIGHTLY CONDITIONS ON PRIVATE PROPERTY; SUBSECTION (g) ADDING PROVISIONS RELATIVE TO DILAPIDATED PARKING LOTS AND POTHOLES.

RESOLUTIONS:

RESOLUTION NO. 14R-02-28:   ESTABLISHING A POLICY OF INSTALLING “PEDSTED” PRINCIPALS ON MAJOR THOROUGHFARES IN THE CITY OF LAUDERHILL AND IMPLEMENTING OTHER PROGRAMS TO IMPROVE PEDESTRIAN SAFETY  (REQUESTED BY MAYOR RICHARD J. KAPLAN).

RESOLUTION NO. 14R-02-29:   APPROVING THE DONATION OF FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,750.00 FROM THE STATE LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND (LETF) TO SPONSOR THE 2014 BROWARD COUNTY CRIME STOPPERS AWARD WHICH SUPPORTS CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAMS IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE GUIDELINES.

RESOLUTION NO. 14R-02-30:   APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF CISCO TELECOM SYSTEMS AND EQUIPMENT FROM RONCO COMMUNICATIONS IN THE AMOUNT OF $137,705.44 FROM THE LIST OF PREFERRED VENDORS FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE CITYWIDE TELEPHONE SYSTEM; PROVIDING FOR PAYMENT FROM BUDGET CODE NUMBER 305-321-6114.

RESOLUTION NO. 14R-02-32:   APPROVING THE FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN BROWARD COUNTY AND THE CITY OF LAUDERHILL FOR DESIGNATION OF SUBRECIPIENT AND DISBURSEMENT “HOME” 12R-0752 PROGRAM PURCHASE ASSISTANCE AND MINOR HOME REPAIR/WEATHERIZATION PROGRAM FOR FISCAL YEAR 2011/12 TO EXTEND THE TERM OF THE AGREEMENT FOR ONE (1) YEAR.
