Notes of the CRA and Commission Meeting of June 28, 2010

On June 28, the City Commission held a regular CRA Meeting and Commission Meeting. The following are notes of interest from the meeting (all items passed unanimously, unless otherwise stated):

CRA MEETING:

1) RECOVERY ZONE BOND PROGRAM - Lauderhill Mall $9 M and Arbella (Carrishoca) $16 M have been both approved for bonds under federal program. They still need a bank to provide the financing. Should have something more concrete by August 1. Mayor Kaplan found another program for $1 M that may be applicable. Staff is reviewing if we can use it.

2) REDEVELOPMENT CAPITAL PROGRAM - Moving forward. Waiting for checks. Trying to transfer part of the funds to 441 CRA from Central CRA.

3) INTERNATIONAL AND ART INCUBATORS - Proceeding with the work. People should be moving in by the end of July for the International Incubator. Not paying rent until moving in. There are 4 businesses about to move in. The Arts Incubator is working through the ACT Board, with room for more artists in both locations. The Artist are receiving a free location at the Promenade at Inverrary as part of the Home Decor Row Sidewalk Sale this weekend.

4) NEW BUSINESS - Board authorizes the Executive Director to call special meetings when necessary. Also, the July 12 CRA Meeting is cancelled.
